| 1. Vikings #20 |
Kenechi Udeze, DE |
USC |
The draft could not have played out any better for the Vikes. Udeze gives them the rush end they have lacked since the days of Chris Doleman. And that was a long time ago. |
| 2. Vikings #48 |
Dontarrius Thomas, OLB |
Auburn |
Thomas will get every chance to become the new starter at "Will" linebacker. Thomas' speed and athleticism should be a major upgrade for the Vikes LB corp. |
| 3. Vikings #88 |
Darrion Scott, DE |
Ohio State |
Great insurance pick if DE Kenny Mixon is suspended by the NFL. If not, Scott will be a wave DE/DT and play everywhere. Scott is a tenacious DE that never quits on a play. |
| 4. Vikings #115 |
Nat Dorsey, OT |
Georgia Tech |
Huge offensive tackle, had he stayed in school one more year, he could have been a first round pick in 2005. Needs to work on strength and conditioning. Will back up at OT spots this season, but has limitless potential. |
| 4. Vikings #119 |
Mewelde Moore, RB |
Tulane |
Extremely productive college back. Only second back to rush for 4,000 yards and receive for 2,000 in college history. A fabulos pass catcher, who could see action on 3rd down and as a kick returner. Similar to former Vike Amp Lee, but faster. |
| 5. Vikings #155 |
Rod Davis, LB |
Southern Miss. |
Was the leading tackler in Division I football. A tackling machine who has been compared to Greg Biekert. Davis has been branded too slow for the next level. Will be special teams demon and back up E.J. Henderson.
Note: Has proclaimed himself this years Steal of the Draft! |
| 6. Vikings #184 |
Deandre' Eiland |
South Carolina |
| Holds the national record for the 55 yard dash. Is a workout warrior to go along with his extreme speed. Needs to learn both safety and cornerback positions at the pro level. Will really need to impress to make the final roster. |
| 7. Vikings #220 |
Jeff Dugan |
Maryland |
| Is a great blocker, and not much else. Will compete to make the roster as a back-up tight end. If he plays well in training camp, Dugan could fill Sean Berton's role. |
| Vikings RFA |
*Spencer Johnson, DT |
Auburn |
| Another guy with a non-stop motor that has some potential. Johnson has good size at 6'3" 290 and has been impressive in mini-camp. Will have a good chance to make the roster as a backup to Chris Hovan. |
| Vikings RFA |
*Grant Wiley, LB |
West Virginia |
| A hard nosed guy who just does his job. Lacks ideal size and speed, but will be a special teams ace and solid back-up. |
| Vikings RFA |
*Anthony Herrera, G |
Tennessee |
| Versatile lineman who has played both guard and tackle spots. With some good coaching, Herrera could develop into a solid back-up. Keep an eye on this guy. |
| Vikings RFA |
*Alan Reuber, G/T |
Texas A&M |
| A technically sound blocker at the tackle spot in college. Reuber is best suited to play guard, and could develop into a solid back-up at both guard and tackle positions. |
| Vikings RFA |
*Matt Kegal, QB |
Washington State |
| A competetive pocket passer who goes through his progressions nicely. Has good size, but needs to get stronger. Could be replacement for Sean Hill with a good training camp. |
| Vikings RFA |
*Lane Danielson, WR |
Iowa St. |
| A sure handed receiver with outstanding work ethic. Coaches will have their eyes on him during camp on special teams. If he makes the team, Danielson could develop into a 4th or 5th receiver some day. |
